Warm and friendly welcome from the owners. Although there were other people staying at the hotel, I did not meet anyone so dinner & breakfast were somewhat solitary but was able to chat to the owners at length they have good knowledge of the local area. Pleasant view from the breakfast table watching racehorses stroll past quite a change for a city dweller.
Thought the white patchy painted doors to the bedrooms looked rather shabby perhaps could be replaced or repainted?

lots of hot water
Not sure how it is classified as 3 star or how they could justify charging £120 a night. A bit old and tired and an expensive restaurant.

It is in a great location, both for Newmarket (within walking distance) and for travelling about the surrounding area (a short drive to the major road network). The couple that own it could not do enough for us, they were really friendly, welcoming and went out of their way to be helpful. This has been one of the nicest hotel stays we have ever had.

Staff were very friendly, particularly the owner, and the food was plentyful and good quality.
The first room I was offered had fresh, clean bedding, but had not been cleaned. 8 dead flies on the bathroom windowcill were testament to this. The room I stayed in had also not been properly cleaned, witnessed by stepping on a bottle top beside the bed, and a carpet that had not been vacuumed. I cut my stay short in view of this, and never received any form of apology.

The welcome was very friendly and efficient with excellent advice about the surrounding area and the Newmarket horse racing points of interest. Food and service were very good with portions that would satisfy ant appetite. Room was very clean and well appointed. I would gladly stay here again and have already recommended it to friends.

This lovely old hotel is full of character and makes a welcome change from the bland and modern. Upon our arrival, we were given a warm and friendly welcome by the owner Julie, who also provided helpful directions within the area. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. We had no problems with either noise or windows, which opened easily and provided some respite from the hottest day so far this year. The hotel is ideally situated being only a few minutes leisurely walk from the main High Street, which has a range of shops and places to eat. We left after a hearty and tasty breakfast and will be returning to the Cadogan later in the year to see more of this lovely part of the country.

Within walking distance of Newmarket High Street.
I was very disappointed during my stay in The Cadogan Hotel. I understand the hotel is old fashioned but one could still clean it. I haven't stayed in a dirtier room ever! The carpet was disgraceful and I had to ask twice for it to be hoovered. The window ledges were coated in dirt and dead flies. The breakfast crockery and cutlery was rinsed not washed - my tea cup had tea dribbles on the outside from the past user. Also I felt £75 per night was too high, especially as I could see in the diary that other residents were charged £65 per night.
